The Durham Bank Holiday Car Show Sunday August 26th
The Durham Bank Holiday Car Show took place on a hot August bank holiday Monday and it was the second time this event had been run, The Durham MG Club had been allocated the picturesque Elvet Bridge again and we had a good selection of MG’s on show. The day was organised very efficiently by Bob Luke who had been approached by Malcolm Vance, an old friend who had been asked by Durham Council if he could arrange the car show for five different locations in the city.
The passing public came in droves and chatted to our club members asking them lots of questions about the cars.
I even allowed a few of the visitors to sit in my car and have their picture taken. An independent judge went around to pick out a car in each of the five locations that he thought was worthy of a prize and they were presented with a trophy and to her delight.
Jeannie Crann won the MG club prize with herimmaculate MG 1300.
The day passed quickly, I managed to visit the other car club sites in the city but I reckon once again we had the best location and it was well laid out.
Bob mentioned that we could easily have had twenty cars on the bridge and I had to agree with him, Elvet Bridge was just perfect for the display.
