Swainby Show Sunday August 30th
Sunday the 30th was a fine sunny day and we managed a good turnout of cars despite lots of other events taking place on the same day. We left Bowburn in convoy to for the run down to Swainby picking up Brian and Ivy Swallow and Mike Davison on the way also a few of our members had made their own way to Swainby, in total we had seventeen cars at the show.
After a few quick hello’s it was time for a delicious bacon roll and a coffee for a bargain price of £4 from the village hall before a leisurely stroll around the many and varied cars present. It is interesting to see
the modifications some people make to their cars and the methods that they go to in protecting them, I was impressed by this antitheft device on an Austin Seven. It was good to see Tom Hewitson had
brought his magnificent MG SA along, this had been a best in show at a previous Swainby show unfortunately we didn’t win any prizes this year, the standard of the cars was very high. I guess we were all prize winners on the day enjoying a very pleasant and convivial setting.
Many thanks to Maurice Scott for organising yet another super day at Swainby.
